The great flood
On Friday morning I woke up just like any normal day and got dressed for work. I was going to the delta that afternoon so I walked in my closet to get a few dresses and I'll be damn if my whole shoe didn't get soaked by water. So I look down and everything is soaken wet! All my shoes, purses, some clothes, vaccume cleaners, books, pictures... everything on my floor! At this point, I am in tears! Two Tory Burch purses were soaked! uggs, ruined! My NICE sandals, ruined! I completely freaked out! I called my mom because of course Mother's know best! She thought it would be a fine time to tell me that is why you don't have to have the best shoes or the nicest purses and nothing should have been on your floor! REALLY Debbie!!! I live in a freakin' shoe box and I own too much shit! I hung up on her and called my Daddy! He wanted to know what I thought he could do about it, he was in the middle of the lake fishing and didn't really have time for this. He said "Emily, this is one of those situations that you have to deal with on your own". Complete panic mode at this point and I said "Whatever, Dada, Obviously you don't understand that over two thousand dollars worth of shit was ruined and it is NOT my fault." His last words of the conversation were "I know Emily, Nothing is ever your fault." Goodbye DaDa, we just got disconnected! As most of you know, I am a titty baby and it is all my mother's fault! I don't deal well having to do things my own! On Friday, I decided it was time to grow up! I immediately called my insurance agent in Greenville and asked him about renter's insurance. Sadly, I did not have any. He gave me the address to the Madison Office and on I went to get it! As of Friday, 9am I now have RENTER'S INSURANCE! This is how grown up I am, the guy asked me if I wanted to send the bill to my dad and I said no thank you I will go ahead and pay for the entire year right now! BIG BIG step for me! After going back to my apartment and the maintence guys telling me there is nothing they can do until Monday, I packed my shit and headed to the delta! Great weekend with really good friends! I hated to come back Sunday to the flood but I did! Monday rolls around and not a damn thing has been done to fix my apartment. I called the office and they said it will be Wednesday! I went into my apartment Monday after 6 and there were Mexicans on ladders working on molding around the apartment but of course they didn't speak English and the office was closed so I had no idea what was going on! Wednesday night I get home from work hoping that I can move my closet out of my living room back into my closet where it belongs but hell no! It doesn't look like anyone had even walked in to check on it. I called my mother last night and told her that I was going to raise hell with the office today because this was just ridiculous that nothing had been done. She was ACTUALLY helpful and told me what to say and not to put up with any bullshit! I woke this morning at 5am preparing myself for the earfull I am going to give the stupid girl. While going over all of this in my head, I see a snake on the wall! Instead of calling my mother or my father, I walked into the kitchen saw a crutch and grabbed shoes! It was on! No it was not a big snake, but a snake is a snake! I have this little fellow in a bag and we are going to the office to raise ten pounds of hell! Like my mother says "I did not sign up for this shit"!

Less is MORE!!!
I am so sick of looking at wedding pictures and seeing Brides that look nothing like themselves. I mean are they even going to recognize themselves when looking back at pictures twenty years from now, if their marriage even lasts. Look like yourself rather than something you are not. The slick back updo is terrible with that poofy princess dress. Be natural!

God BLESS Texas!
Seriously, Bless Texas! Those people are way different than Mississippians for sure! Friday, Lauren and I left for our road trip to Dallas to stay with Roane for the weekend! The drive was fine until we crossed the Texas state line! Traffic was awful. Cars that needed to be in the slow lane had the fast lane backed up. It was a cluster! It seemed like there were a million double wides being transported and taking up both lanes, ridiculous! We stopped at a gas station to fill the car up and use the restroom in a small town. As Lauren and I were walking in the store, a car backed over a guy on a motorcycle, paused, and drove off as fast as he could! It was so crazy! The guy was fine but was cussing and the bird was flying. We knew from then on no one in Texas could drive!
Once we arrived to Roane's house , we headed to the galleria to shop. I was in heaven, although I couldn't find anything to buy! Roane on the other hand had luck with Tory Burch! We then went to dinner and to a friends house to hang out! Very low key but we knew we had a very long day ahead of us, and oh boy did we!
Around 7am the alarms started going off and it all began! Caylon came in the room telling us to hurry up we were wasting his party time! We weren't really worried about him or anything he had to say because Roane would tell him exactly how it was going to be and she did! We arrived at the bar around 9 and had green beer and brunch. It was crazy crowded and so much fun! We went to the parade and back to the same bar before going to see Ryan Bingham! If you have never heard Ryan Bingham, you are missing out! He is awesome and so good to see live! I definitely hope to see him again soon even if this means I have to go back to Texas! Of course we were front row at the concert, maybe that's why he was so good!
St. Paddy's in Dallas is a blast! I really enjoyed getting to hang out with Roane and all of her friends! We were home and asleep by 8 Saturday night! Texas, you win!
We left Sunday morning around 645 since we had clearly gotten 10 hours of sleep! I went to the delta and hung out with the cutest little boy in the world before returning to Jackson! He is my heart and loves his memma monster! We had a photo shoot and he loves attention just as much as his aunt!
I had a wonderful st. Patrick's day and hope each of you did also!

Shopaholic
I'm sure at least one of you has been wondering how long until I blog about shopping, it didn't take long! This year for lent I decided I would give up online shopping. The rules were I could still shop in person just not from my computer or phone. It is much much harder than you think. My phone has every store app plus I get over 30 emails a day about buying something and then there is facebook. Online shopping for me is a bigger problem than I really thought it was. It only lasted 2 weeks but I now have set myself limits. NO buying for Reed or from any kid's store! Why does Fed Ex deliver a package a week with something for Reed? Facebook and ambien are to blame! See i take my ambien around 9 every night.. well, that is the time the sales start on lolly wolly doodle, smocked auctions, sprinkled sweet and many more! The next morning when I look at my email I always say "Damn it, Emily! You did it again!" So yes this may suck for Reed but he will be just fine without a smocked outfit for the week. During BIRTHDAY week, I was getting all sorts of coupons and they expire the end of March so of course I had to use them! I know I should be ashamed with not going through with giving something up for lent but I am sorry. I have given up a lot of things in 2012! I don't eat carbs, I don't drink soft drinks, no wine, no whiskey, not to mention that I have given up 35 pounds in 3 months! Yes a small child! I look at shopping as my reward and for now I am going to keep rewarding myself! Have you ever gone to the Mexican restaurant and not eaten chips? Subway and not had a sandwich? It is hard to completely change the way you have been living for 26 years but it is so worth it! I feel great and I have so much more energy!.. and not to mention I have lots of cute new clothes!

Blogging
I am so sure someone out there is asking why the hell does Emily have a blog? Nope, I don't have kids to show off or an exciting life but this is a good way to keep up with my friend's lives. It's also a good way for them to keep up with mine. Sometimes I like to visit a place called the shade tree. 99% of the time if my close friends and family don't know my where abouts then I am doing something I should not be doing! A blog may be good for me and keep me out of trouble and is also a hell of a lot cheaper than therapy! I have always been told that I could write a book of Emma stories so this will have to be my book for the time being!
My Big Deal Birthday!
If you know me then you know that I celebrate my Birthday more than any normal person does. I celebrate the WHOLE entire month, a little extreme I know, but I love a Birthday and not just MY Birthday but everyone's! For months I had plans made for a big weekend in Memphis and last minute they fell through. Devastated does not even describe how I felt about this. Not because I wasn't going to Memphis but because I had NO birthday celebration weekend before my real birth planned! I freaked out totally to the point where I called my father and totally cried my eyes out and when he said "Emily, What in the hell is wrong with you?" All I could say was "I don't know, Daddy. It's just a bad day." He basically told me to suck it up that a Birthday isn't anything but another day! Oh DaDa, You just said the wrong thing to the 27 year old Birthday Brat!
So the weekend began with Kelly, Brittany, and Brooke coming to my parent's house on Friday after work. We had dinner and listened to Dada stories! At 3:30am Saturday morning we headed to Mound Bayou to the Peter's Pottery sale! Interesting to say the least! Those people are serious about pottery! We all got good pieces and took notes for next time! From Mound Bayou we headed to Cleveland for lunch at Ala Carte. Brooke and Brittany had never been to the Delta with me so I felt as though I needed to give them a tour! We went around the world or so it felt! I showed them our cabin, we rode the levee, toured my aunt's new house, showed them Greenville, Harlow's, and even the new Mississippi bridge all on the way to Paul Michael's! After we all shopped until we couldn't anymore, we got beer and I showed them even more of the Delta. We rode with the windows down and music up and hit back roads all the way to Tribbett! The girls had to get back to Jackson to their husband's and I had a Birthday that I had to celebrate!
My friend Carrie named me the Birthday Brat years ago and it has always stuck! Carrie also encourages my Birthday though! When I called her flipping my shit about having no plans she called our friend Lauren and they knew they had to do something before I had a serious breakdown! We had the perfect little Birthday party with Connie's cookies! My all time favorite activity is day drinking on a beautiful day and that is exactly what we did by a fire! Thank you Carrie and Lauren for still letting me be a Birthday Brat!
Monday (my real Birthday) began with cake oreo's for breakfast that a friend had given me followed with lots of calls, texts, wall posts, tweets, emails, and flowers from my precious nephew and sister! After work I went to Sombra for my Birthday dinner! Kelly, Brittany, Lindsay, Val, Mackie, Jennifer, Beth, and Emily all helped me celebrate! We had a great dinner with lots of drinks, well I had a lot but it was my actual Birthday! I received a beautiful Peter's Vase, a phone clutch, earrings, candle, and adorable napkins! All of my favorite things! Lindsay brought GiGi's cupcakes and I had tequila shots for dessert, not wise for a 27 year old who had to be at work at 7 the next morning! Thank you girl's for making my REAL Birthday so special!
One thing I look forward to every year is a phone call singing to me from someone who takes every holiday just as serious as I do. I always get a call early in the morning and it is calm but telling me to have a great day! I get so excited about this call, but I LOVE the second one around bedtime! It is always much more entertaining and includes her husband! I missed the late night call this year and oh am I so glad! This just means I have it on voice mail with a verse that I had never heard before!!! I can't wait until next year!
Just because March 5 is in the past does not mean that my Birthday is over! Tomorrow I have Birthday dinner with my friend Meredith and the next weekend I will celebrate with Roane and Lauren in Dallas. It is also Lauren's Birthday month and Carrie's, so celebrations for them are just about to begin! I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family who allow me to be the Birthday Brat! Thank you to each of you. 27 is going to be WONDERFUL!!!!
